2023: Tinubu Emerges APC Presidential Candidate

Former Lagos State Governor and National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged as the presidential candidate of the ruling party.

Tinubu emergence was announced on Wednesday at the Eagle Square in Abuja, where over 2,000 delegates queued to choose their preferred presidential candidate.

A total of 23 presidential aspirants began the race before voting began, leading to nine persons stepping down willingly, while 14 contested the primaries.

Tinubu’s victory at the APC Presidential Primary which began on Tuesday came as a result of the sacrifice of the following: Godswill Akpabio, Kayode Fayemi, Dimeji Bankole, Ibikunle Amosun and Ajayi Boroffice.

This means that Tinubu will be flying the flag of the ruling party in the 2023 election and would battle opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, among others.

Meanwhile, there is wild jubilation across Lagos as the Jagaban clinches the ticket of APC at the highly-anticipated convention.

Tinubu scored over 1,000 votes to defeat his closest contenders, Rotimi Amaechi and Yemi Osinbajo.

Amaechi obtained 316 votes while Osinbajo polled 235.
