The Coalition of Civil Society Organisations has said it would mobilise to march to the national secretariats of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday to demand the zoning of the presidential ticket to the South.
The coalition also said that it had been mobilising the Nigerian youths to collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2023 general elections to elect the leader of their choice who will turn the economy around and also tackle the current insecurity challenges.
The president of the coalition, Bassey Williams said this on Friday in Abuja.
The North had had its fair share of the nation’s leadership and should cede the presidency to the South in the spirit of fairness and equity.
“We have watched with keen interest various agitations across the zones of our federation units and we came up with the agenda of championing and clamouring for a power shift to the South come 2023,” he said.
Williams argued that political parties could not exist without the nation, insisting that national interest should override the personal interest of those clamouring for the North to retain power in 2023.
