The accomplished international lawyer, Dr. Charles Deji Adeogun-Phillips, SAN, will join other distinguished thought leaders as a panelist at the upcoming 18th SPA Ajibade & Co. Annual Business Luncheon, holding on Thursday, December 11, 2025, by 11:00 a.m. at Metropolitan Club VI Lagos.
Registration is required.
This year’s theme — “Rebuilding Public Trust in the Nigerian Justice System: Responsibilities of the Bar, the Bench, and the Society” — invites a candid conversation on restoring confidence, integrity, and efficiency in Nigeria’s justice institutions.
Dr. Adeogun-Phillips brings a unique global perspective to the panel. He previously served as Lead Genocide Prosecutor and Head of Special Investigations at the United Nations, and currently leads Charles Anthony Lawyers, a cross-border law practice in Nigeria. He also practices as a Barrister specialising in international law with Guernica 37 (International Law) Chambers, 6 Pump Court, London.
He is admitted as List Counsel at the International Criminal Court (ICC) and serves as the Focal Point for Nigeria at the International Criminal Court Bar Association (ICCBA) at The Hague. Beyond litigation, he is Vice-Chairman of the Board of Integrity Initiatives International (III) — the Boston-based NGO advocating for the creation of the International Anti-Corruption Court (IACC).
In 2016, Dr. Adeogun-Phillips was appointed by the Federal Government of Nigeria to lead the landmark corruption investigations and prosecutions involving several senior judicial officers — an assignment that underscored his reputation for courage, competence, and credibility.
His practice spans international human rights law, anti-corruption law, white-collar crime, international investigations, asset recovery, and wealth advisory. He holds an LL.B from the University of Warwick, an LL.M from SOAS, University of London, and was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. He also holds an Honorary Doctor of Laws (LL.D) from the University of Warwick in recognition of his contributions to international criminal law.
Dr. Adeogun-Phillips’ participation at this year’s Luncheon underscores SPA Ajibade & Co.’s continued tradition of convening some of the most influential minds shaping justice reform, governance, and the rule of law in Nigeria and beyond.
